Economy is slow. Housing market has all but tanked. Disposable income fading. Luxury buys have vanished. Is it all that bad?
Well, as bad times come, so does opportunity. Your biz might be negatively affected by some or all of the aforementioned situations, but so is your competitors’. Opportunity knocks… now’s the time to possibly throw a knockout blow.
Gaining market share might be the key for you to ramble on the present economy and set your biz up for much success once it revives. Perhaps that pickup in share will put a competitor out… perhaps multiple. But maybe your competitor(s) is thinking the same thing; taking share away from you.
Take good care of your current customer base. Scratch that. Take GREAT care of your current customers. Do a little bit extra for them. Make sure your service is perfect. Put a finishing touch on your product or service that will make them loyal. Whatever that extra is, make sure you do it during these times. Don’t lose a customer to a competitor.
So how might you reach new customers or take them away… and do so without spending lots of money? Referrals and Word-of-Mouth. Get involved with your sales process if you aren’t already. Again, put that extra touch on. Ask for referrals. Let the customer know you are looking for new customers… if you treat them special, they will want to help. I do. When a biz I frequent goes out of their way and it is noticeable, I make a point to spread the good word. Your extra will get noticed. Turn a customer into a soundboard. It will help your biz ramble on when others fade away.
